Justin Bieber 'Has His Head On Straight'

'You don't hear anything bad about this guy,' Boyz II Men's Nate Morris says of teen superstar during 'MTV First: Justin Bieber.'

Justin Bieber is bridging the generation gap with his star-studded holiday album, Under the Mistletoe. He's collaborated with a string of stars like Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes and Usher for the November 1 LP. But it's the Biebs' pairing with Boyz II Men that's sure to expand the teen star's fanbase.

We spoke to BIIM's Nate Morris via Skype during our special "MTV First: Justin Bieber" this week, and he shared his thoughts on the young singer as well as their holiday collabo "Falalalala."

"We respect him, man," the R&B crooner told MTV News' James Montgomery. "I watch what he does, I watch what the people around him do, and they're guiding him in the right directions. You don't hear anything bad about this guy. He has his head on straight."

JB's team includes his mother, Pattie, who Morris said clearly has Bieber's best interests at heart. "His mom has got his focus in the right direction and as long as she does that, he'll be just fine," he added.

So will Boyz II Men head to the studio again with the pop superstar? Morris was optimistic, saying, "Oh, without a doubt. We just have to figure out the right circumstance. This was perfect for us because, you know, we wanted to try to make sure that the first song we did together was something that people could accept the two artists doing together. ... If there's a soundtrack or whatever that comes along that we can create something special, that'll be hot."

BIIM's team-up with JB is just one of many treats the group has planned for their comeback. On October 25, they're set to drop Twenty, a new double-disc set that features both brand-new tracks and re-recorded classics.

"It's a collection of our best work, we think," Morris admitted. "I mean, 20 years is a long time to be in this business, so we tried to encompass a little bit of everything. ...We wanted to bring everything together all on one [album] even for those young Bieber fans who may not know all the Boyz II Men records — they can get all the history and today's music on one CD."

'Footloose': The Reviews Are In!

Critics can't help but compare the Kenny Wormald dance flick to Kevin Bacon's 1984 original.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

Let's dance! The remake of "Footloose" hit theaters on Friday (October 14), and the critics have weighed in. The dance flick revisits the 1984 original's story about a teen (played by newcomer Ken Wormald) who moves to a conservative town that has outlawed dancing; the new kid shakes things up in more ways than one.

"Footloose" seems to be holding on with a 74 percent fresh rating at the review-aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes and, overall, the verdict is a resounding "better than we thought it would be."

We rounded up a sampling of some of the reviews to give you an idea of what to expect if you decide to bust a move and hit the theater.

The Story
"After his mother dies, Boston kid Renn (Wormald) comes to live with his aunt (Kim Dickens) and uncle (Ray McKinnon) in Bomont, Ga., which three years before banned 'vulgar, demeaning amplified music' and 'lewd and lascivious dancing' in the wake of a car crash that killed five high-schoolers. One of the dead kids came from the family of Rev. Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid), his wife Vi (Andie MacDowell) and their daughter Ariel (Julianne Hough). The boy's death has launched pretty Ariel into a territory somewhere between damaged and deranged. She stands on railroad tracks as a train speeds toward her, and flirts dangerously with surly local outlaw Chuck (Patrick Flueger), whose biker gang seems sanitized enough to be called Heck's Angels. Ariel also comes on to Renn — who, though he sports a Back Bay accent and a greasy coif, isn't that kind of boy." — Richard Corliss, Time

The Leads
"Unlike Bacon, who had a double, Wormald does Ren's angry dance himself in an abandoned warehouse. But Wormald is not the actor Bacon is. This crimps his chemistry with Hough, who has the indefinable spark that indicates star potential." — Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

The Direction
"If you remember the first 'Footloose,' you know more or less what happens, and you may find some of the alterations amusing. Instead of a game of chicken on tractors, for instance, there is a dirt-track race involving modified school buses. [Director Craig] Mr. Brewer films this lumbering action sequence, and several brawls and fights, with more verve and relish than he brings to the dance numbers, which are, in the age of 'Glee,' the 'High School Musical' movies and the mighty 'Step Up' franchise, woefully inadequate." — A.O. Scott, The New York Times

The Remake
"There's one thing to be said for a remake of a 1984 movie that uses the original's screenplay. This 2011 version is so similar — sometimes song for song and line for line — that I was wickedly tempted to reprint my 1984 review, word for word. But That Would be Wrong. I think I could have gotten away with it, though. The movies differ in such tiny details (the hero now moves to Tennessee from Massachusetts, not Chicago) that few would have noticed." — Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

The Verdict
"The remake of 'Footloose' is sappy, squeaky clean and far-fetched. But thanks to the obvious love director and co-writer Craig Brewer has for the 1984 original, its heart is in the right place." — Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic

Scarlett Johansson was been linked to yet another guy.

This time her rumored love interest is actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, star of one of the fall's most memorable films (see some of the best 50/50 quotes).

"They were kissing," an eyewitness says of the couple's recent NYC run-in. "They were very lovey." It wasn't the first time either, we're hearing ...

Scarlett Johansson, 26, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, 30, hit the town together at Hundred Acres in NYC's SoHo area in late July. Clearly they're close.

A source says they have "discussing a project for a while [but] have never kissed," another insider explains that it started out that way, however:

"They first met about a film, but it's gone beyond that now."

A Johansson pal insists there's "nothing serious" going on between the stars ... yet. She's also been linked to Kieran Culkin within the last month.

Alec Baldwin is a changed man, according to his brother Stephen ? and his new girlfriend is the reason! Stephen admitted at Studio 54's "One More Night" event in NYC that 27-year-old yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas has made a tremendously positive impact on his brother?s life and added that Alec, 53, even looks better.

?He?s mellower. She?s a yoga instructor ? it must be the yoga!? Stephen tells In Touch of the 30 Rock star. ?Alec takes his time to take certain steps, and he chooses well," Stephen added about his brother?s choice of girlfriends. "I?m just glad that they?re into each other. It?s cool!?

And the family pride didn?t end there. Stephen also had kind words for his sister-in-law Chynna Phillips who was recently voted off Dancing With the Stars. ?I?m a little bit upset with Cher at this point!? Stephen joked. ?If she hadn?t spawned that twinkle toes [DWTS competitor Chaz Bono], Chynna might still be up and dancing! I?m very proud of her. She did wonderful. Michael Jackson Overdose Re-Enacted In Court Video

Prosecution aimed to prove MJ's death could have been prevented if Dr. Conrad Murray had the proper equipment and staffing.
By Gil Kaufman

After five days of recess, the involuntary manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray resumed in a Los Angeles courtroom Wednesday (October 19) with the airing of a dramatic video showing an actor going into cardiac arrest and being revived following a propofol overdose.

The Witness
» Dr. Steven Shafer, anesthesiologist

Key Testimony
» After the trial was recessed for two days to allow Shafer to attend a conference -- which he did not make it to in light of his father's death -- the anesthesiologist, who emphasized the fact that his pro bono consultation on the case is motivated by his desire to restore faith in the public that propofol is not fatal when administered and monitored properly, completed his testimony from last week. Shafer, an expert on the surgical anesthetic propofol, narrated a video in which jurors watched an actor pretending to go into cardiac arrest while being administered propofol. The Los Angeles coroner's office determined that Jackson died of "acute propofol intoxication," which caused the singer to go into cardiac arrest.

» In the video, doctors and nurses successfully revive the patient using equipment and staffing that Murray did not have in Jackson's home. The dramatic re-enactment capped a case from the prosecution aimed at proving that Murray acted in a negligent, unprofessional manner in his treatment of Jackson.

» Murray lawyer Ed Chernoff argued vehemently against showing the video, calling it "a terrifying dramatization of a person experiencing cardiac arrest" that he said was intended to inflame the jurors' minds. Prosecutors countered that it was aimed at educating jurors about the safe way to administer propofol. A judge allowed the video but ordered Deputy District Attorney David Walgren to re-edit the video mid-morning to delete several scenes that he said were not relevant to the case.

» Over the course of the afternoon, the prosecution walked Shafer through his analysis of 17 major infractions -- what Shafer termed "egregious violations" -- in Murray's treatment of Jackson. Four of those violations were deemed "fundamentally unconscionable," such as Murray's failure to purchase and implement the proper medical monitoring devices and his failure to chart and document his treatment of Jackson, or keep any records. "It's a setup for disaster," Shafer said, adding that the violations were all contributing factors in Jackson's death.

Murray, who has pleaded not guilty to the felony charge of involuntary manslaughter, is facing four years in prison if convicted. But new sentencing laws in California meant to mandatorily reduce state prison overcrowding mean that, as a nonviolent offender with no prior record, he could be sentenced to county jail instead. If that is the case, his sentence could be reduced to two years and, because of overcrowding in the Los Angeles County jail, he may be allowed to serve the majority of his time under supervised house arrest.

khl1_wide.jpg
As exclusively reported in the new issue of In Touch, Khloé Kardashian and her husband, Lamar Odom, have been trying hard to expand their family. ?Khloé?s been having a difficult time getting pregnant,? an insider explains. ?Lamar already has kids, so he?s not feeling the pressure, but for Khloé it?s very consuming. She?s feeling a sense of anguish nearly all the time.?

However, it appears that Lamar has successfully convinced his wife to give herself a break: On October 9, the pair were spotted having dinner with Kanye West and Sean ?Diddy? Combs at the chic New York City restaurant The Darby. Prior to their Columbus Day trip, Khloé and Lamar were mostly laying low in Los Angeles, hoping to increase Khloé?s chance of conceiving through a mixture of old-fashioned methods (including acupuncture) and high-tech procedures. (The insider says they intend to start IVF soon.)

And, in an effort to avoid drama that could drain her, Khloé has been spending less time with her family. But it seems that a night out with friends can?t do any harm, and there?s little worry of Khloé losing focus. ?She?s more than ready to become a mom,? a friend explains. ?After two years of being Lamar?s wife, she feels the time has come to be his baby?s mama!?

Taylor Lautner Gay Question Spurs GQ Australia Apology

'The point we were actually trying to push was that Taylor is irresistible to virtually everyone,' mag says in a statement.
By Jocelyn Vena

In a recent interview with GQ Australia, the subject of Taylor Lautner's sexuality came up and, despite his publicist telling him not to answer personal questions, the "Twilight" star set the record very much straight.

The writer asked Lautner if his recent dinner companions — director Gus Van Sant and "Milk" writer Dustin Lance Black, both gay — had hit on him during the meal. "It's not a coincidence that there was a writer, a director and an actor at dinner," he explained, as reported by E! News. "No, definitely not. I think they know I'm straight. But they're great guys. They're a lot of fun."

Days after the interview made its way online; Black took to his blog to weigh in on the magazine's line of questioning. "Really Mr. GQ writer? I'm curious, will you be asking all of the handsome actors I've ever had the privilege of working with or meeting if I made passes at them as well?" he wrote. "I'd love to be there when you ask Sean Penn that same question. Or, Mr. GQ writer, were you projecting your own unprofessional desires onto me and Gus? Perhaps? Or worse still, are you a homophobe?

"Above and beyond this clear attack on my character, I'm shocked that GQ would allow their writer to lean on the scurrilous, outdated stereotype that gay men are by nature sexual predators," he continued. "I mean, would you have asked this same question if it were Diablo Cody and Kathryn Bigelow at dinner with Mr. Lautner? Leaning on lies, myths and stereotypes about gay people is hateful, harmful and outdated."

It seemed the backlash from Black, as well as Internet commenters, was enough for the magazine to issue an apology on its Facebook page.

"We've seen some of the comments floating around regarding our recent interview with Taylor Lautner and apologise if anyone was offended by anything in the article. It certainly wasn't our intention to paint anyone in the story as a sexual predator," the statement reads. "The point we were actually trying to push was that Taylor is irresistible to virtually everyone — regardless of sexuality or gender. Hence the film crew cheering at his shirtless scenes while shooting 'Twilight,' and Mark Wahlberg deeming him better looking than Leonardo DiCaprio."

The statement argues that they initially wanted to include Lautner as their cover boy because he defines the GQ man and meant no harm. "Taylor is an extraordinary young gentleman, and we can't wait to see him achieve even greater success in the future. That's why he's on our cover — because GQ Australia prides itself on offering readers the best possible advice and insights that help you be modern, successful gentlemen," it reads. "Whether you're into fashion, food, fitness, pop culture, politics, travel, technology or cars, GQ Australia strives to provide you with top-quality editorial content that allows you to make your own discerning choices."

Do you think the GQ writer was out of line? Let us know in the comments.

Lindsay Lohan Gets Probation Revoked, Sent to Jail

It?s a familiar sight these days, and Lindsay Lohan was spotted once again arriving at a Los Angeles courthouse this morning (October 19).

The ?Georgia Rule? actress turned up to share her accomplishments thus far regarding the terms and conditions of her probation agreement.

Throwing the book at Lindsay once again, Judge Sautner has revoked her probation, citing continuous violations - sending Lindsay to jail with $100,000 bail.

If bailed out, Lindsay must complete a minimum of 16 hours at the morgue before her November 2 court date, which could ultimately determine if the star will return to the slammer for an extended period of time.

Adding to Lohan's legal woes is a million dollar lawsuit, just served to the starlet for allegedly attacking Betty Ford staffer Dawn Holland during her time at the rehab center last year.

According to TMZ, Holland claims she incurred "great mental, physical and nervous pain and suffering" from the alleged incident.
